Learn More About BlueCruise
Imagine cruising down the highway, hands off the wheel, with your vehicle confidently steering itself, braking, and accelerating as needed. This futuristic driving experience is now a reality thanks to Ford's innovative BlueCruise hands-free driving technology. Great Lakes Ford of Muskegon is excited to carry select Ford models which feature BlueCruise.
How Does Ford BlueCruise Work?
BlueCruise enables hands-free driving on over 130,000 miles of divided highways across the U.S. and Canada that Ford has mapped and designated as "Hands-Free Blue Zones." The system combines two advanced technologies: a driver-facing camera and vehicle-sensing radar to provide a true hands-free driving experience while ensuring the driver remains alert and ready to take control if needed.
The driver-facing camera monitors your head position and eye gaze to ensure you're keeping your eyes on the road, even when your hands are off the wheel. Meanwhile, radar sensors and camera constantly scan the road ahead, monitoring your lane position and the distance to the vehicle in front of you. BlueCruise uses this information to provide hands-free steering, braking, and acceleration support.
BlueCruise proactively prompts you to return your hands to the wheel when it anticipates a situation where hands-free driving is no longer available, such as approaching a vehicle stopped in your lane, nearing a construction zone, or when you reach the end of a Hands-Free Blue Zone highway section. This collaborative approach keeps you engaged and aware, ready to take over when needed.

Take the stress out of driving, not the fun.
Ford BlueCruise enables hands-free highway driving that helps make driving easier and more enjoyable. Turn stressful situations - like your daily commute or long road trips - into opportunities to refuel, physically and mentally, and arrive at your destination more energized. Let BlueCruise accelerate, brake, and steer the vehicle in the lane, all with the touch of a button.

Top-rated technology
BlueCruise was designed with you in mind. Built on established driver assistance technologies, like Adaptive Cruise Control, found on many vehicles on the road today, BlueCruise includes a driver-attention system, utilizing driver-facing camera, 360 Perception, and Connected Maps, bringing you the ultimate peace of mind as you let go of the wheel.

How does BlueCruise work?

Step 1 Welcome to the BlueZone
When you enter a pre-qualified section of a divided highway - a Blue Zone - you'll see a prompt on the instrument cluster letting you know BlueCruise is available and ready to assist.

Step 2 Let BlueCruise assist
Simply tap the Adaptive Cruise Control button on your steering wheel and let BlueCruise assist, while keeping your eyes on the road. The system helps handle steering, keeps you centered in your lane, and adjusts your speed as needed - all without you ever touching the wheel. Designed with driver collaboration in mind, you can always take over and steer manually within the land without BlueCruise disengaging.

Step 3 Feel the Magic of Letting Go
With BlueCruise engaged, you can switch lanes hands-free on the highway using Lane Change Assist and enjoy extra room with In-Lane Repositioning,* where your vehicle subtly shifts away from vehicles in adjacent lanes. So you can relax a bit, take in the scenery ahead of your, or catch up on that podcast - let your vehicle handles the nitty-gritty of staying on course and maintaining a set distance from other vehicles.

Where Can You Use BlueCruise?
Ford has mapped over 130,000 miles of divided highways across the U.S. and Canada where you can confidently use BlueCruise hands-free driving technology. These Hands-Free Blue Zones include most major highways, such as interstates and select state routes.
When driving within a Blue Zone, the instrument cluster displays a blue shaded area to clearly indicate where hands-free driving is available. As you approach a section of highway where BlueCruise can't operate, such as an exit ramp or construction area, the system alerts you take back control.
